Kendall's Spavin Cure
In this installment of This Place in History, Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Stephen Perkins and Local 22 / Local 44's Mike Hoey stop by Enosburg Falls to speak with Tim Camisa, owner of the Kendall Building, which was home to an early pharmaceutical business that produced a product known as Kendall's Spavin Cure.
Created by Dr. B.J. Kendall, it was a designed as a medicine for horses, but which contained opium. It brought an incredible amount of wealth to the town, but following the Food and Drug Act of 1906, the business eventually shuttered and Kendall himself succumbed to addiction.
