During the railroad boom in Vermont's history, the people of Windham County hatched a plan to establish a railroad that would stretch from Brattleboro to Whitehall, New York. They were only able to construct a portion, and the railroad became known as "36 miles of trouble", with a history of derailments.

Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins and ABC 22 & Fox 44 Anchor Mike Hoey stop by the Historical Society of Windham County's West River Railroad Museum to learn more about its story.
