Samuel Morey's Steam Engine
Robert Fulton is often credited with being the first to create the steam-powered boat, but a Vermont inventor beat him to it. Samuel Morey was fascinated by transportation, and devised a small steam engine that he placed on a boat and tested on the Connecticut River. Vermont Executive Director Steve Perkins and Local 22 & Local 44 anchor Mike Hoey head over to Fairlee's Morey Pond to learn more.
This Place in History is produced in partnership by Local 22 & Local 44 (www.mychamplainvalley.com) and the Vermont Historical Society.
