Norwich University
America's first private military college, Norwich University was founded in 1819 in Norwich, VT. It moved to Northfield in 1866 when a fire destroyed the original building. Today it hosts both private and civilian students who learn in a hands-on, practical setting carried over from the founding principles established by Captain Alden Partridge.
