Admiral H. T. Mayo
Admiral Henry Thomas Mayo from Burlington had an illustrious military career culminating in being named Commander-in-Chief of the North Atlantic American Naval Forces during World War I. He had a big impact on the development of what a modern navy looks like, being a big proponent of anti-submarine warfare and an early advocate for the idea of aircraft carriers.
