General George Stannard
General George Stannard is most well-known for his actions at the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War, breaking Pickett’s Charge which eventually led to Union victory there. Stannard lived and worked in the Milton, VT area including as a teacher and farmer. The Milton Historical Society has been working to restore his home, and fully recognize his service.
