Following the end of World War II, France offered a thank you to the USA for large aid packages sent on train cars. They arrived as Merci Trains- train cars filled with special objects from businesses and organizations. Vermont received its own Merci Train in Montpelier, VT in 1949, and the treasures from inside are now housed in Barre, VT at the Vermont History Center.
