Montpelier State House Dome
The structure supporting the dome of the Vermont State House is built of wood but made to look like a granite structure on the outside. The copper roofing was originally painted red and was first gilded in 1906. Only a few people, including the State House Pages, are allowed to visit the inside of the dome.
This Place in History is produced in partnership by Local 22 & Local 44 (www.mychamplainvalley.com) and the Vermont Historical Society.
