Embodiment of Agriculture
The first Ceres statue, known as the Embodiment of Agriculture, topped the state house in 1859 to represent Vermont's celebration of Agriculture. Larkin Goldsmith Mead was hired to design the statue, although it was executed by someone else. It topped the statehouse until the 1930s.
