From the 1920s until the 1960s, the Washington County Sanatorium was one of several hospitals set up by the state to help treat people with pulmonary issues like asthma or tuberculosis. These buildings often had large porches to encourage patients to take in the clean, outdoor air. ABC 22 and Local 44 anchor Mike Hoey and Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins went out to learn more about this building and the movement it was part of.
