The Stevens family, specifically Henry Sr. Stevens, established the Vermont Historical Society in 1838 at his home in Barnet, VT. His collection became the basis of the Vermont Historical Society Library. His son and fellow history lover, Henry Jr. Stevens, was a rare book collector who helped create the American Literature and Document collection of the British Library.
