Montpelier's Clothespin Industry
Montpelier, Vermont was once home to a vibrant industry to a common household item: the humble clothespin! Two Vermonters held patents on early versions of the modern clothespin, and Montpelier became home to a pair of factories that turned out hundreds of thousands of clothespins every year, the U.S. Clothespin Company and the National Clothespin Factory.
