Local History Engagement Sessions

local history engagement sessionsBuilding a Stronger History Community

For over 60 years, VHS has been providing programs and services to Vermont’s local history, museum, and cultural community. Current offerings include the LLHSM annual meeting, periodic workshops, site visits & advice, the Local History Gallery, and more. In our most recent strategic planning process, updating and expanding those services was identified as one of the primary strategic areas. VHS held a series of Local History Engagement Sessions over the summer and fall of 2019 to talk with stakeholders about the role local historical societies & museums play, common obstacles we face, and how we can work together to build a stronger history community statewide.

You can now Read the Report from the sessions and and associated survey, which outlines the information and data gathered, as well as discussing potential next steps for VHS programs and services.

Support for these programs was provided by the Windham Foundation and the Walter Cerf Community Fund. Questions? Contact Eileen Corcoran at (802) 479-8522; eileen.corcoran@vermonthistory.org
