In-Person History for Homeschoolers

In-Person History for Homeschoolers Registration

Offered the second WEDNESDAY and the following THURSDAY of each month, September 2023 through May 2024, 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  All programs will take place at the Vermont History Museum, 109 State Street, Montpelier.

Recommended for children ages 7 to 12. Some activities involve reading and writing. Pre-registration is REQUIRED; space is limited.

Each session includes history-related activities that focus on the month's theme.

This year, we will be implementing a subscription model for our classes. This subscription will include registration for all History for Homeschooler classes, September to May. Cost for standard registration will be $90 per child, or $72 for Vermont Historical Society Members or families with three or more participating children. Parents and non-participating children are free.

January-Architecture

Examine how buildings reflect location and culture.

February-Stories

Wednesday February 14th OR Thursday February 8th

Explore how mythology and stories explain things in the past.

March-Rocks

Wednesday March 13th OR Thursday March 14th

Learn about the different rocks found in Vermont and the history of mining.

April-Presidents

Wednesday April 10th OR Thursday April 11th

Learn about the two presidents from Vermont, Chester B. Arthur and Calvin Coolidge.

May-Vermonters

Wednesday May 8th OR Thursday May 9th

Examine what it means to be a “Vermonter.”

Please notify VHS educational staff at least 24 hours in advance of a class to receive a refund for that session.
