Description:
The Geiger Fellowship program is for students considering a future in archives, museums, non-profits, or education. This opportunity is available for three high school students and one college student to develop as historians through hands-on work at the Vermont Historical Society. Four fellowships will be available in a variety of departments including collections, archives, education, and digital projects. As a fellow, you will meet and learn from experts in the field, work closely with department mentors, and explore various facets of the Vermont Historical Society. Students will work with VHS staff to develop and complete their own project over the course of the fellowship. Projects may include work such as assisting with archival or museum collections work, creating digital educational content, or engaging with museum visitors.
The Geiger Fellowship is an intensive summer program based between the Vermont History Center in Barre and the Vermont History Museum in Montpelier. Students will dedicate 8 hours/day between June 23 and July 11 (excluding July 4th).
Interested students should apply using our internship form. Thanks to the generous funding by the Harvey and Pamela Geiger Charitable Fund, each fellow will be awarded a $1500 stipend.
