Support Vermont's libraries and museums

We, the undersigned, believe that Vermont’s libraries and museums are necessary.

  • They are necessary as community hubs, where generations of Vermonters gather together in the center of our villages and towns. They connect Vermonters to the broader world through curiosity, learning, and common humanity.
  • They are necessary as resources for people who are seeking information, applying for jobs, studying for exams, preparing their taxes, and discovering new books.
  • They are necessary for learning, with exhibits and programs that touch the hearts and minds of Vermonters.
  • They are necessary for preservation, holding the treasures that tell the tale of Vermont’s extraordinary history.
  • They are necessary for democracy, because democracy depends upon an educated public and withers without access to broad viewpoints and sound information.

We celebrate the librarians, volunteers, and museum professionals who are advancing community, learning, and preservation within their organizations, large and small. And we commit to supporting them as they work to safeguard democracy with learning and understanding.
