Take part in VHS's Spring Virtual Roundtable Series
Join the Vermont Historical Society and our League of Local Historical Societies & Museums (LLHSM) for a series of online lunchtime discussions this winter!
We’ll be exploring a variety of topics, with an emphasis on best practices, related to Creating Exhibits. Bring your questions, experience, and sandwich to the Zoom room. Free and open to everyone, pre-registration appreciated.
January 26th: Virtual Roundtable: Community History Projects: 250th and Beyond
Collecting, preserving, and sharing your community history is essential. There are numerous types of programs and projects that can accomplish that. We’ll discuss some of the options- including digitization and oral history projects, available resources, and how others have had success.
February 19th: 50 for 250: Historical Significance
VHS’s “50 for 250” project will engage with scholars, collectors, students, and society members to select 50 specific artifacts from the collection that tell 250 years of Vermont and national history. What are some of the considerations that have gone into selecting these objects? And what are some ways we can determine historical “significance” in our own communities.
March 16th: Teaching 250
How are students learning about and engaging with the 250th? Hear and share about different projects and approaches you could use to engage with educators- such as VHS’s “All in Vermont” project, new online resources, and other local history activities for students.
You can register for one or all of these sessions here. (You can register for multiple roundtables at one time. Once you have selected one, use the "Back" button to return to the ticket page. Then select at different date using the black date button next to "when would you like to visit us" & selecting a different month.)
