Vermont Eats 2025: the French-Canadian experience

The Vermont Historical Society is pleased to announce the return of its culinary experience, Vermont Eats. This year’s event will take place on May 15th in Hyde Park, with a focus on French-Canadian food and history.

Vermont Eats is a series that seeks to examine the social, economic, and civic history of immigrants to Vermont and their impact and influence on the communities they settled in. From 1840 to 1930, almost one million people immigrated to Vermont from Canada, seeking economic opportunity and bringing with them a wealth of culture and food.

This year, the Vermont Historical Society is teaming up with the culinary students at Green Mountain Technology and Career Center to invite our guests to a night of Quebecois food, music, and learning.

The event will feature music by a local band, Sugar in the Pan, remarks by Bill Schubart, a French-Canadian meal catered by the students of GMTCC's culinary arts program, and a raffle. Tickets are $75 (2 for $140). The raffle will feature prizes from around Vermont, including a stay at the Grafton Inn, the Trapp Family Lodge, Woodstock Inn, and more.

Proceeds from this year’s event and raffle benefit the Vermont Historical Society's Annual Fund and further details found on our website here
