Test your Vermont History knowledge in this year’s 250th Trivia series

In 2017, we created our popular “Vermont History Trivia” program to engage and challenge folks from around the state to learn more about our shared history in a fun and fascinating way. In prior years, we went all over the state to places like Harpoon Brewery and Woodchuck Cider in a traditional “pub trivia” format, but the COVID-19 pandemic prompted us to hold these events virtually, allowing people a chance for connection across boundaries during some very difficult times.

For the 250th Anniversary of the United States, we decided to dust off our traveling trivia mojo and partner with groups around the state for a special selection of questions themed around this special commemoration!

Trivia participants will be able to test their mettle on topics such as early Vermonters, revolutionary battles, and how places got their names, among other special categories.

We’ll be holding the 250th Vermont History Trivia series in the following communities, and you can find all the details you need – locations, times, and partners – over on our calendar.

We are adding more locations all the time, so check back often for new dates. Don’t see a location near you? Contact us at director.outreach@vermonthistory.org to inquire about hosting your own program this year.

Oh, and the first Lieutenant Governor for the state? Peter Olcott, who served between 1791 and 1794. He was also served in the role when Vermont was its own republic.
