YouthBuild Gives the Vermont History Center a Makeover

This past Monday, an incredible team of students from ReSOURCE YouthBuild removed the large reception desk from our lobby no longer in regular use. With the way our activities and use of the building have changed over the years, it is high time our lobby transforms to match those changes. We look forward to creating an even more welcoming space for visitors when they first enter the building. In the coming weeks, we plan to add some cozy seating for guests to enjoy between visits to the Leahy Library, exploration of our new Research and Exhibition Gallery, and other meetings and programs.

Thank you so much to ReSOURCE YouthBuild for helping us get this project off the ground. For those unfamiliar, YouthBuild is a national program for 16-24 year old youth, providing an opportunity to earn trade certifications and an AmeriCorps Education Award, while learning construction skills. ReSOURCE YouthBuild is our local chapter and works with young adults in Chittenden County and Central Vermont, blending academic achievement and trade skill development with community service through their program.

We plan to have this updated space ready in February and hope you will visit then!
