On occasion, the Vermont Historical Society offers professional development workshops for educators. These workshops focus on teaching Vermont history, using primary sources in the classroom, and guiding students through National History Day projects.

Research Library

Teachers planning lessons are welcome to do research for free at the Leahy Library, located at the Vermont History Center in Barre. The library contains thousands of photographs, books, posters, maps, and other documents that tell the stories of Vermont.

Students in middle and high school grades can visit the library to discover the primary sources of Vermont’s past and hone their research skills. Please contact education@vermonthistory.org to arrange a research experience for your students.
