Mission statement from the organization that produced this bracelet.
"Our mission is to cancel the basing of the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter at the Vermont Air National Guard Station located at the Burlington, Vermont International Airport. We oppose the basing in order to protect the over 6,600 people living around the airport from the dangers associated with its basing. Some of these include adverse health impacts on children and adults, cognitive impairment in children, reduction in property values, classification of thousands of affordable homes as being unsuitable for residential use, disproportional negative impacts to minorities and people with low incomes, risk of loss of life from crashes, and nuclear threats from and to Vermont."
From the Associated Press in September of 2019 - "The first two of an eventual 20 F-35 jets arrived Thursday at the Vermont Air National Guard base in South Burlington, the first Guard unit to receive the next-generation fighter. "

Butter Mold
Lexicon
Description
Wooden butter mold. The mold consists of a rectangular box frame, a closely-fitted rectangular insert, and 4 square presses, or stamps. The frame is held together at the corners with box joints, and there are 2 wooden bars running horizontally across the base. The bottom is left open. There is an oval hole on each side end. The insert has slightly flaring sides and is held together with screws. 1 end piece has been replaced, as have all but 2 screws. There are 3 dividers across the insert, separating it into 4 pieces. The four square stamps are each carved with a different floral design: a branch with 3 berries and several leaves; a tied sheaf of wheat; a branch with 3 acorns and 3 leaves; a thorned stem with a rose, a bud, and 3 leaves. Each stamp has a chip carved border. The stamps are not attached, but holes in both the stamp pieces and the insert indicate that they were originally attached.

The first Green Up Day was held on April 18, 1970. In a letter written in 1984, former Gov. Deane Davis explained the origin for the now annual event. Robert Babcock, reporter for the Burlington Free Press, came to Davis after being appalled at the roadside litter that appeared as the snow melted in March 1969. He suggested to Davis that the state should sponsor a clean-up day. Davis liked the idea and set up a planning committee. Rather than rush to hold the event in 1969, the committee scheduled it for 1970. Babcock got a leave from the newspaper to work full-time on planning the event. For the first event, the interstate was closed from 9 a.m. to noon.

Glass Suncatcher

Glass Suncatcher
Description
Hand-blown and hand-stamped colorless glass suncatcher from AO Glass. The circular suncatcher has a hole near the top with a pale tan ribbon through it for hanging. The central design shows the moon nearly covering the sun, with a diamond-like sparkle to indicate the moment just before totality during the eclipse. The hand-blown glass round was stamped with a graphite stamp designed by Justin Harris.
Harris writes, "Since 2012, AO Glass has been crafting stamped sun catchers and ornaments with a mastery that reflects their expertise in interpreting graphic symbols through the medium of glass. With a keen eye for capturing the interplay of light within the confines of a flat circle, they have honed their craft to perfection. Spearheaded by Justin M Harris, this particular piece represents a meticulous transformation journey from image to graphite and finally to glass. Harris's vision was to encapsulate the essence of that awe-inspiring 'diamond ring' moment just before the full totality, translating it into a tangible work of art."

These molds, usually found in Canada, were originally meant to mold cooling maple syrup into solid decorative chunks. They were an adaptation or evolution of the bark sugar cone. This one, crafted in maple, has a good Vermont Abenaki family provenance from the Demars Family of Highgate, Vermont, a family that has provided important Abenaki oral history used in the Missisquoi and Nulhegan state recognition petitions. The quatrefoil at the bottom of the mold is shaped similarly to the “Wabanaki quatrefoil” beaded design examples from 30 – 50 years before.

Gas price spikes and supply disruptions beginning in 1973 led to a national discussion about how to respond. One result was nationwide maximum speed limit of 55 mph. The American Automobile Association created a "Gas Watchers Guide" in 1975 that offered ways that its members -- car drivers -- could cut their gasoline costs and use. This pin may have been part of that campaign that encouraged car pooling, modest speeds, consolidating trips and keeping cars in tune.

No information was found to explain the purpose of this pin. However, the following excerpt from the Green Mountain Club's website (https://www.greenmountainclub.org/conservation/protecting-long-trail/)
explains the ongoing efforts to protect the trail from one end of the state to the other.
"Since the 1980s, the Green Mountain Club has sought to secure a permanent route for the Long Trail. While in the early years, the club could rely on simple handshake agreements with landowners, a few threats of trail closure and development near the trail inspired the club to kick off its Long Trail Protection Campaign.
The Long Trail Protection Campaign has resulted in the conservation of more than 25,000 acres of Vermont forest land through which the Long Trail and its side trails cross. The club has protected more than 78 miles of the Long Trail and continues to strive to conserve the remaining 6.5 miles of the trail (Note: much of the trail was conserved before this campaign thanks to the national forest and state lands). With only a few miles left unprotected, the club continues to work with willing landowners to provide the public with long term certainty that the trail will never close.
The club’s Long Trail Protection Campaign has always relied exclusively on willing landowner sales and easements. The club has partnered with the state of Vermont to transfer many of the lands it has conserved into the state forest system."

Background from a commentary published in 2014 by "Page Guertin, a Montpelier resident and member of Citizens to Protect Berlin Pond, the group that has filed a petition with the Agency of Natural Resources to protect the pond from recreational access.
Berlin Pond has been Montpelier’s water supply source for 130 years, and during most of that time it was protected from human access, and therefore a relatively pure water supply. Now a combination of governmental action (or inaction) and a Vermont Supreme Court ruling has turned that history on its head, and Montpelier’s water supply is seriously threatened by human recreation on the pond. Montpelier owns most of the land around the pond, but a disputed area is being surveyed for the possibility of installing a gravel launch ramp for boats, to be built and financed by our Department of Fish and Wildlife (F&W).
The ramp was built and opened in 2018.
