"Hail, Vermont!" was the first official song of the state of Vermont, composed by Spaulding High School music teacher Josephine Hovey Perry. It was declared the official song by Governor George Aiken to be performed at the Vermont Pavilion at the 1939 New York World's Fair. It was replaced by "These Green Mountains" in 2000.
