This portrait is oval in shape and depicts an older man who is dressed in a uniform. He is wearing a white jacket with shoulder straps and stars, as well as a white hat with a black visor. The visor of the hat features a gold filigree design. The man has white hair and a white mustache. The portrait is signed with the words "For Mrs. George Fabyan with the best wishes of George Dewey". There is an additional autograph ("George Dewey") at the bottom center, below the portrait.

This is one of the many commemorative coins and badges produced for celebrations of Admiral George Dewey, a native son of Vermont, who became an American hero after he destroyed the Spanish fleet at Manila Bay during the Spanish American War.
