Barre Urban Renewal, Business District
The urban renewal slideshow includes a photographs of familiar Barre buildings as they appeared in 1966 (See also "Churches and Civic Buildings" section). These seemed to be positive aspects of Barre's downtown, although one of the components of the plan was to introduce a New England village element to storefronts, especially the store housing J. J. Newberry Co., shown here as it appeared in 1966. See "Plans" section to see how the planners thought it should look.
