historyhelperVolunteer History Helpers play a key role in facilitating a positive experience for students who come to visit the Vermont History Museum during school field trips.

The requirements for being a History Helper include a sincere interest in working with children and sharing your love of history with them. You are working with them to create an insightful and educational experience. You should be flexible and energetic. The Vermont Historical Society volunteers share a strong sense of camaraderie with each other by having similar interests.

While some of History Helpers have previous teaching experience, this is not a requirement. We will provide all the training and education necessary to become an excellent History Helper.

Benefits of becoming a volunteer come through sharing your love of history with children. You will also receive all Vermont Historical Society volunteer benefits such as free admission to the VHS museum, galleries and library, a discount in the museum store, and an invitation to other annual Society volunteer events.

If you have enthusiasm for teaching children and are looking for a challenging, yet rewarding, volunteer opportunity, we strongly encourage you to become a History Helper.
