Mt. Philo History Hike with Judy Chaves
Come celebrate 100 years of Vermont State Parks at Vermont's very first state park, Mt. Philo! Author Judy Chaves will lead a two hour hike up to the summit area, mainly via the paved road. There will be stops at sites along the way, where Judy will share historic photos, maps and writings about Mount Philo. Get the insiders story of the "Secret History of Mount Philo!"
This event will start at 9:30pm in the northern end of the lower parker lot. Please arrive 10 minutes early, so the event can start on time. The hike will finish at the summit area, after which attendees will have the opportunity to stay and enjoy the summit, or return to the parking lot via the House Rock Trail or Road.
The hike is not appropriate for children younger than 10 years old, and no dogs are allowed. The hike will commence whatever the weather, unless it is storming or a downpour. Please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind that it is typically 5 degrees cooler at the summit than base. Please bring water and whatever snacks you might need.
Judy will have copies of her book Secrets of Mount Philo available for anyone interested in buying it at the end of the hike. She will be also autographing copies that attendees bring or buy if they want. Price is $21.15; cash or checks accepted.
The event is free, but registration is required.
