185th VHS Annual Meeting

The Board of Trustees of the Vermont Historical Society welcomes you to our annual meeting! You can attend this hybrid meeting either in person at the History Center in Barre, or virtually via Zoom. Registration is required, please register below. Our keynote speaker, Mercedes de Guardiola is the author of the newest VHS publication “Vermont for the Vermonters”: A History of Eugenics in the Green Mountain State

The book explores the social and political legacy of the eugenics movement, Mercedes brings new scholarship and context to one of Vermont’s darkest chapters. VHS members attending the Annual Meeting both remotely and in person will have the opportunity to ask Mercedes questions after her talk. Those at the History Center will enjoy the official book launch which includes the continued opportunity to speak with Mercedes about her book, purchase a signed copy, and enjoy some light refreshments.
