GB2137 BrickyardDryerExtension2Brickyard Dryer ExtensionWe are in the process of scanning glass plate negatives created by Wilbur C. Sawyer of Essex, Vermont, and Los Angeles, California, ca. 1890 -1905. The collection includes photographs taken iin and around Essex Junction, Vermont, as well as images of the University of Vermont during Sawyer's student days at the turn of the twentieth century. Images of UVM include campus architecture, student activities and early sports activities such as baseball, football, and tennis. The collection is particularly strong in domestic architecture. It also includes photographs of family groups and manufacturing activities such as a brickyard and a bobbin mill. The collection also includes images of the construction of Fort Ethan Allen and activities at Camp Olympia in Essex Junction during the Spanish-American war.

We have divided these photos into several "sets" and have posted them on Flickr, the photo sharing web site.
