Lake Champlain 1767 Map
This map was created by the British surveyor, Simon Metcalfe, in 1767 to accompany a letter to the Colonial Office in London describing the situation around Lake Champlain. The map shows 19 French claims on both shores of the lake, John Henry Lydius' Otter Creek claim, and other British claims. Metcalfe moved to Swanton Falls soon after receiving a New York grant and lived there until the Revolution.
