Anna C. Park
Member of Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Date of Birth1826
Date of Death1914
Anna C. Park, daughter of Luther Park, was born in Bennington, VT on December 19, 1826. Park taught school in Louisiana, California, Honolulu, and the Micronesian islands. She travelled in Europe and lived a year in Greece. Upon returning to Bennington, she became active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union, an organization devoted to the prohibition of alcohol and the promotion of sobriety. Apparently, the National Society of Colonial Dames refused to admit a Vermont chapter of the society because Vermont was not one of the 13 original colonies. Park therefore organized an independent Vermont order, which flourished. Park died in 1914.
