Lime is a substance that is used in a number of different products, ranging from toothpaste to gas to plaster to soap, and quite a bit more. It's baked out of limestone, and for hundreds of years, lime manufacturing was a major industry in Vermont.

Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins and ABC 22 & Fox 44 anchor Mike Hoey visit Lime Kiln Road in Burlington to learn more about the industry and how it changed with time.

This Place in History is produced in partnership by Local 22 & Local 44 (www.mychamplainvalley.com) and the Vermont Historical Society.
