Before the construction of the Rouse's Point Bridge, the most efficient way across Lake Champlain was by ferry from the Islands. Chazy Landing Ferry, known locally as Sweet's Ferry, ran from Isle La Motte to Chazy, New York. It carried Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and Franklin Roosevelt.
