Johnson Historical SocietyMasonic Temple, Main and Pearl Streets, Johnson, VT The Johnson Historical Society was established in November 2006. The society plans to provide education about Johnson's history through exhibits, programs, and access to its collections. The society is located on the first floor of the historic Masonic Temple in the center of Johnson Village. Hours and Admission: Contact for information.
Morristown Historical SocietyNoyes House Museum, 122 Main Street, Morrisville, VT The Noyes House, a two story federal style brick mansion built by the Safford family in the early 19th century, was the first location to be settled in the village of Morrisville. Exhibits of local and regional history, photographs, furnishings, toys, household and farm tools, quilts, costumes, military artifacts, souvenir pitchers, Toby mugs, and other artifacts related to industry, home life, and leisure activities in the 19th and 20th centuries can be viewed throughout 17 rooms and a carriage barn. Research archives and an extensive photograph collection are available for public viewing. Activities include guided tours, historical programs, special exhibits, and an annual open house featuring the Morrisville Military Band. Hours and Admission: Mid-June - Labor Day: Friday -Saturday, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, or by appointment. Admission by donation only. Access for the disabled is limited to the main floor of the house and carriage barn.

The society has also restored the one-room Bloody Brook schoolhouse that is located next to the Helen Day Art Center. Collections are of 19th-century decorative arts, clothing, small household furnishings, tools, photographs, and military memorabilia. The schoolhouse contains books and school-related items. The society's newest preservation project involves moving the District #2 West Branch School/St. John's in the Mountains to its new home in the village next to the Bloody Brook School. When moved and completely restored, the schoolhouse will be the new expanded home of the Stowe Historical Society's collection and programs. The society's hope is to create a "cultural campus" in the village that will encompass the Helen Day Art Center, the Bloody Brook schoolhouse, and the West Branch schoolhouse. Hours and Admission: Tuesday and Friday 10:00am - 12:30 pm, or by appointment. Free. Handicapped accessible through rear door.
