The artwork will be displayed at the Vermont History Museum at 109 State Street in Montpelier from July 3 through the end of this year, with a special pre-opening reception for Vermont Historical Society members on June 27.&nbsp;</p> <p>This remarkable exhibition at the Pavilion Building is the first showing of works from The Orton Collection in central Vermont. Co-curated by the Vermont Historical Society, Lyman Orton, and Donnel Barnum, who is the curator of The Lyman Orton Collection, &ldquo;For the Love of Vermont&rdquo; features more than 80 works of Vermont scenes created between 1910 and 1970. Author Judy Chaves will lead a two hour hike up to the summit area, mainly via the paved road. There will be stops at sites along the way, where Judy will share historic photos, maps and writings about Mount Philo. Get the insiders story of the "Secret History of Mount Philo!"</p> <p>This event will start at 9:30pm in the northern end of the lower parker lot. Please arrive 10 minutes early, so the event can start on time. The hike will finish at the summit area, after which attendees will have the opportunity to stay and enjoy the summit, or return to the parking lot via the House Rock Trail or Road.</p> <p>The hike is not appropriate for children younger than 10 years old, and no dogs are allowed. The hike will commence whatever the weather, unless it is storming or a downpour. Please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind that it is typically 5 degrees cooler at the summit than base. Please bring water and whatever snacks you might need.</p> <p>Judy will have copies of her book <a href="secrets-of-mount-philo"><em>Secrets of Mount Philo </em></a>available for anyone interested in buying it at the end of the hike. She will be also autographing copies that attendees bring or buy if they want.
