My Favorites feature: The Vermont History Explorer web site contains a “My Favorites” feature.  If you register for a free account and log in, you can mark pages as “favorites” and return to those pages quickly and easily.  Only you can see your favorites and only you can add or delete from your favorites list.

If you are under 13 years old: You must ask your parent or guardian for permission to register for the “My Favorites” section because we will ask you for your name and email address to register.

Parents or guardians of children under 13 years old:  If you did not give your child permission to register for the “My Favorites” section (which requires submitting a name and email address), or for any reason, you can request for your child’s “My Favorites” account to be deactivated and all personal information deleted.

Teachers of children under 13 years old: If you require your students to use the “My Favorites” section, you should obtain permission from your students’ parents before the students register using an email address.  Teachers may want to consider creating a classroom account instead of individual student accounts.

Information collected automatically through the web site:  The web site collects some anonymous information when you visit pages.  We do not collect information that can identify you personally.  For example, we can know how many people visit the site, how long they stay on the site, if they use search engines like Google or Yahoo to find the site, and which pages are viewed most often.  However, we do not collect information to identify the individuals who visit the site.  We use the information we collect to measure our site and to help us make our site better.
