Wool Quilt -
Teenaged sisters Sarah and Anne Holt of Berlin, Vermont, made this beautiful black and red wool quilt in 1838. The colors are still vibrant and the design eye-catching, as is the detailed stitching throughout the cover, creating a swirling circular pattern that showed off the skill of the duo. Luckily, the sisters stitched their names and date on the quilt, making it possible to document its Vermont origins. Museum purchase. 83.25"h. x 82.5"w. #2010.9.
