Pieced Crazy Quilt -
Pieced and appliquéd crazy quilt made from silks, satins, failles, and velvets by Cecile Sullens Depoutee of Middlebury, Vermont, in about 1890. Born in England, Cecile may have created this quilt as a geography lesson as it is embroidered and painted with the names of states including those recently admitted just before the quilt was made. Featured in Plain and Fancy: Vermont’s People and Their Quilts. Donated by Judith Young. 89"h. x 78"w. #1996.23.
