There is a museum of local interest in the old Academy Building (1893), now used as the town hall and other offices. Collections include costumes, documents, photographs, schoolbooks, farm tools, and souvenirs of local businesses.
Hours and Admission: April and May: 1st Friday of the month 10:00 am-12:00 pm. June through October: Fridays 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Call to confirm or schedule appointment. The museum is handicapped accessible by elevator.

The society maintains the Braintree Hill Meetinghouse, erected by the Congregational Society in 1845. A museum on the ground floor contains 19th-century farm tools, domestic paraphernalia, town memorabilia, photographs, manuscript materials, and school records. Activities include Old Home Day (1st Sunday in August) and special programs.
Hours and Admission: by appointment and during scheduled events. Free. Access to the museum room is via two steps down.

The house was the home of a Brookfield blacksmith and is now operated as a museum. Collections include costumes, 19th-century home furnishings, locally manufactured articles, photographs, and local ephemera. There are guided tours, an annual ice cream social, and other special events.

Newbury Historical Society is a 501-3c organization, managed by a 9 member Board of Directors. Base of operations is a renovated former one-room schoolhouse, where collections are stored, and offers a museum-type display.

The museum is located above the police station, across from the post office. Exhibits include printing items, the complete 3-generation (early 1900s) Leonard's Drug Store and soda fountain, barber shop, three period rooms, an early pipe organ, Justin Morgan's gravestone, farm tools, trade signs, band instruments, and bicycles.

The Society was founded in 1955 to preserve the sites, records, relics and related materials pertaining to the history of the town. In 2014, the Mix family leased the entire first floor of the wing of the Brick Store to the society, where they now have space for research, a permanent museum and seasonal events.

The society maintains two sites. The library contains about 4500 volumes, 100 linear feet of manuscripts, photographs, portraits, and small artifacts. The museum contains agricultural implements, craft and domestic tools, store and post office fittings, all housed in a barn and three smaller buildings.
