Students at Twinfield Union School worked with the Plainfield Historical Society to learn archaeological skills and conducted an archaeological dig at the site of an old blacksmith shop in Plainfield Village.
Students researched the history of the blacksmith shop by looking through land records, photographs, and interviewing older residents with memories of and connection to the blacksmith shop. Archaeologist Steve Scharoun helped guide the research, and he supervised the dig. Any information obtained and objects found were donated to the Society.
